Immigration

What good are the immigration laws that are on the books if they are not being enforced?  While we are off fighting to secure the borders and the infrastructure of other countries, our borders are unprotected and our infrastructure is quickly becoming a joke---politics as usual.
Immigration is a natural right but it has to be done in the right manner. Such things as "dream acts" and amnesty are just political ploys and not worth the effort, well meaning as they may seem.  Politicians have to quit using "people" as tools and start enforcing and obeying the immigration laws.  They are good laws and fair and when you consider how generous they are compared to the rest of the world, it is the world that needs to catch up to american generosity in this matter.
Illegals mean illegal...period, unless amnesty has been requested.  There is a right and wrong way of doing things, a fair way and  an unfair way.  The current laws are not unfair.  So enforce them and quit giving people what appears to be the "easy" way out  (all in the name of some misguided compassion.)  When you give them the "easy" path you demean them as individuals.
All my grandparents were immigrants.  They did it the right way and it was very difficult and they were very poor and not always welcomed.  But they made it and their children helped make this nation strong and defended it in times of war.  Aliens need to be treated kindly as all visitors need to be respected.  But they have to learn that the easy way belittles what they are and the struggles that they face in life.
